Joining the Trust

We welcome interest from schools looking to join a multi-academy trust and will attend governing body meetings to share what it means to be part of our Trust to help schools to decide if DGAT is the right family to join.

Schools interested in joining DGAT should in the first instance contact us and we will work with you to explore whether DGAT is the right place for your school.

The conversion journey

Once an agreement to apply to join DGAT has been made, we will work alongside the school throughout conversion process to facilitate and support the process. This will include:

  • supporting the school’s consultation with the community, parents and staff

  • liaising with solicitors regarding all legal documentation, including supplementary funding agreements, leases and land registration

  • negotiate the commercial transfer agreement

  • liaise with the Department for education and the Local Authority

  • developing arrangements for the new Academy Governing Body with the existing governing body

  • supporting the migration of finance functions to PS Financials and training local school staff in its use

  • setting up payroll, bank accounts and finance systems

  • setting up all necessary insurances;

  • establishing necessary systems for future payments into LGPS.

  • support governors through the TUPE process, liaising with unions. This is a formal legal consultation process which is separate from the consultation with all stakeholders.
