Aligned with the Department for Education’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, DGAT is proud to launch an ambitious Climate Action Strategy designed to reduce our environmental footprint and accelerate progress toward net zero.

Education gives us a unique and powerful opportunity: to work hand in hand with children and young people who:

•    Are determined to protect it for future generations
•    Have the ability to inspire and influence their communities

Through their curiosity and lived experiences, we will create meaningful opportunities to build a deep understanding of nature, sustainability, and the causes and impacts of climate change transforming knowledge into real world solutions and positive action.

Our Strategic Aims
DGAT will take a milestone driven approach to cutting carbon emissions through our Climate Action Plan, which focuses on four dynamic areas:
•    Decarbonisation: Measuring and reducing carbon emissions through smarter energy use and efficiency.
•    Adaptation & Resilience: Preparing for and mitigating climate related risks to safeguard our future.
•    Biodiversity: Bringing learning outdoors and connecting with nature through hands-on projects.
•    Climate Education, Training & Jobs: Equipping educators and learners with the skills and confidence to lead the change.

Together, these actions will empower our schools, staff, and students to become champions of sustainability.
